Gluten, Lactose and Yeast Free Apple Crumble

Hello Adventurers!

Now I am not going to lie to you, I kinda had to improvise this blog post this week…  I was supposed to be posting the finished recipe to this video, link here, but everything that could have gone wrong went wrong and I just ran out of time to try it again.  I was really angry with myself, but I am putting pride aside to upload it as a ‘#fail’ and upload this instead.

Ever since making Zoella’s ‘ Apple Crumble Cupcakes’, blog post link here, and, video link here, I have had to actually make an apple crumble, and do you know what… I had forgotten how much I love it!  After making those cupcakes, I actually had some cooking apples over and it also happens that apple crumble is a favourite of my Mum’s favourite desserts as well, so guess what we had for dessert last Sunday dinner, hahahahaha.

Let’s-a-go!

Ingredients

For the Apple Mix:

2 Bramley Cooking Apples, peeled, cored and chopped into little squares

1 Golden Delicious Apple, peeled, cored and chopped into little squares

Water

1 tbsp Caster Sugar

For the Crumble:

75g Cold Butter, I like to use lactofree butter

140g Gluten Free Self-Raising Flour

1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

75g Caster Sugar
Equipment:

Scales

Measuring Spoons

Peeler

Corer

Chopping Board

Small Knife

Large Saucepan with Lid

Sieve

Trivet (optional)

18cm Round Pie Dish

Large Mixing Bowl

Wooden Spoon/Spatula

Method

Measure out and prepare all of your ingredients and preheat your oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas Mark 4.

For the Apple Mix:

Grab all of your apples, peeler, apple corer, chopping board and small knife.  Then peel, core and chop the apples into little squares.

Once this is done place your prepared apples, 1 tbsp of caster sugar and water (just enough to cover your apples) into your large saucepan and simmer for ten minutes until soft, but so they still have some crunch to them.

Now place your round pie dish on a trivet and, using your sieve, drain away any excess water.

Place your apples into your pie dish, then place off to the side.

For the Crumble:

Grab your large mixing bowl, cold butter, gluten free self raising flour, cinnamon and vanilla extract.

After removing any hand jewellery, rub the mixture together using your hands, until it becomes nice and crumbly.

Now using your wooden spoon/spatula, mix in your caster sugar until well combined.

Grabbing your pie dish, spread your crumble mixture over it, completely covering your apples.

Place your crumble into the oven for fifteen – twenty minutes until golden brown.

Once your crumble has finished baking, you can either serve it straight away if you would like to eat it hot or, place on a cooling rack, to cool completely.

Serve and enjoy!
