Welcome to part 11. This part is really where I got to see all of it coming together.
After painting the wall white twice, we looked at the wall and decided which of the dark and light shades of blue should go where. This was really fun because it just meant dabbing (no… not the dance move) paint on the wall. I was slightly worried because I didn’t want to get it wrong. I’m a perfectionist like that, but my Mum who always calms me and reminds me what is and isn’t important, reminded me that I could paint over all of the colours with white and do it again if I wasn’t happy.
However, as I saw the wall coming to life the way that I was already doing the painting, I thought that it looked amazing.
Off to work we went. The painting took some time because we were trying to keep the blue just on the brick and not spread it to any other brick or even put it on the filler surrounding the brick. Once we had finished the first coat we let it dry. We had a look and we decided that we would need to then go around the edges of the brick with white so that also took a little bit more time. We also looked at it and painted some of the blue bricks white and painted different bricks blue to make the design look better.
We didn’t want to be too much of a perfectionist because we wanted the wall to look quite rustic as well. When the coat of white finished drying, we loved it! I can’t tell you how happy I was to see it really coming to life before me. I had really questioned the entire time if it was going to work because I didn’t want to be in people’s way doing this and I just thought that I wasn’t going to be happy enough. I also wanted the people who watch my videos to like my background, as, if they didn’t, there really was no point going to all the effort that I had.
Back when we got the paint, we also got some storage shelving for the garage and decided that while the paint dried to set that up and see what it was like. We placed the boxes on the storage shelving working from the bottom shelf up. We needed to get the boxes off the floor as this can cause damp in the boxes and ruin the precious and special things in the boxes. Putting those boxes on the shelving was a great idea though as it created loads more space.
And lets leave it at that for today. Thank you for sticking with me this long. Let me know what you think about it so far, always look forward to your input.
Remember be brave, be happy, be kind, be you!
See you next time…
