Gluten Free Margarita Pizza Pasta Bake

Hello Adventurers!

I love this recipe, it is one of those meals, for me anyway, that makes me feel all good and warm inside and out.  This will go into a ‘comfort food’ folder, when I have the time to create one!  Lets-a-go!

Pizza Sauce:

315g Tomato Passata

2 1/2 tbsp Honey

1/2 tsp Dried Basil

1 tsp Onion Granules

3/4 tsp Mixed Herbs

1/2 tsp Rosemary

1/2 tsp Pepper

Pinch of Salt

Pinch of Cayenne (optional)

Pinch of Hot Chilli Powder (optional)

300g Gluten Free Penne Pasta

200g Cheddar Cheese, grated

Measuring Spoons

Small Mixing Bowl

Large Saucepan

Ovenproof Dish (measuring 20 by 30cm, and about 5cm deep)

Pizza Sauce:

Measure out all your ingredients and grab your small mixing bowl.

Place all your ingredients in your small mixing bowl and mix together until fully combined.

Leave your sauce for thirty minutes for all the flavours to blend together.

Note:  I personally found the cayenne and hot chilli powder made the sauce too hot for me, but if you like spicy foods, feel free to add it in!

Now would be a good time to preheat the oven to 190C/gas 5/fan 170C and get out an ovenproof dish (measuring 20 by 30cm, and about 5cm deep).

Put a large saucepan of water on to boil along with a pinch of salt.  Once the water is at a rapid boil, remove from the heat and add your pasta, cooking until your stirrer can easily split a piece of pasta in half.

If you haven’t already, grate your cheese now.

All Together:

Once your pasta has finished cooking, drain away the water, leaving the pasta still in the saucepan.

Add your pizza sauce to your saucepan and mix together with your pasta until fully combined.

Place half of your pasta mixture into your ovenproof dish and then top with half of your grated cheese.  Repeat this process one more time.

Now place in the oven for twenty minutes.

Serve hot and enjoy!
